Began riding at three years old in Long Island and competing at eight in the hunter ring. In 1988 she began riding with world-renowned trainer and judge, Margie Hough in Chicago, Illinois at Fields and Fences Farm.

At fifteen, Schuttemeyer purchased, broke, trained and sold her first young horse for a large profit after riding him in the Harrisburg Finals..

After completing her four year tenure with Hough, Schuttemeyer was offered the opportunity to go work with veteran Olympian and eight-time AGA Rider of The Year rider, Margie Goldstein-Engle.

Schuttemeyer quickly proved herself to be one of the top talents in the US and as a result, began riding many of the Grand Prix horses at the Goldstein-Engle barn.

Biography

After learning business management and training from Goldstein-Engle, Schuttemeyer took the step at 23 to branch out and start a business of her own and made the move down to Delray Beach, Florida.

In 1996 she founded and still currently runs the powerhouse training business, Sport Horse Int'l. Sport Horse Int'l boasts a full barn of 42 horses in training, over 70 loyal clients, and national recognition of her own show jumping excellence and that of her many talented young riders. Aboard her Irish imported star mare, Lakeland Diamond, Schuttemeyer has enjoyed repeated success, including accepting Horse of the Year honors in 2002 and being nationally ranked among the best jumper horses and riders in the world.

Kristin has competed in Wellington and won her first Mini Prix aboard Jacob, owned by Joseph Isreal. Sporthorse Int’l is also the proud home of our non-profit the Faith Hope and Horses Foundation
